Publication of Books

  • Objective

    The objective of this scheme is to publish books by authors of the tea tribes' community with the larger aim of encouraging and supporting creative and intellectual pursuits by authors of the tea tribes' community of Assam.

    Directorate for Welfare of Tea &Ex-Tea Garden Tribes.

    Implementation

    The Directorate shall call for manuscripts from amongst authors of the tea tribes' community through wide publicity by advertisements.

    A three member committee of eminent writers from the tea tribes' community to be constituted by the State Level Advisory committee (SLAC) shall examine and select the submitted manuscripts for publication.

    The three member committee shall ensure that the selected manuscripts conform to the core values and tradition of the tea tribes' community. The committee members themselves shall however refrain from selecting any of their own manuscripts.

    Honorarium of Rs. 10,000/- shall be given to each member of the committee.

    Once the manuscripts have been selected and approved by the SLAC, the books will be published by the Directorate.

    The copyright of the published works shall be vested with the Directorate. Royalty shall be given to the authors in the form of 25% of the total published books. The rest of the published books shall be gifted to the district and Sub-Divisional libraries throughout the State.

    How the Scheme will Benefit

    The scheme is aimed towards encouraging and supporting creative and intellectual pursuits by authors of the tea tribes' community of Assam by publishing their creative works.

    The scheme will add to the growing corpus of literature of the tea tribes community.

    Monitoring of the Scheme

    The Directorate for Welfare of Tea & Ex-Tea Garden Tribes will monitor the implementation of the scheme.

    Maintenance of Records and Monitoring

    The Director will keep proper records with APR of the scheme. And the same will be submitted to the Department.

    Submission of Progress Report

    The Director will submit the progress report to the Govt.

    Submission of Utilization Certificate

    This Directorate will submit utilization certificate to the Govt. in time.

    Audit by the AG (Audit), Assam

    Mandatory Audit by the AG (Audit) Assam is conducted on an annual basis for which the Tea Tribes Welfare Department ensures regular and timely audit of the accounts of the Director, Welfare of Tea & Ex-Tea Garden Tribes, Assam by the AG (Audit), Assam.

    Targeted Period of Completion

    31st March of the current financial year.
